Does the App work on any device, including desktop?
You can use The Farriers App online or on any mobile device after downloading the App
I have an Android phone and iPad but I also use my desktop in the office, will the App sync across all of my devices?
Yes - The App will sync across all devices.
Does the App work without a phone signal?
Yes
Which countries is the app available?
UK, US, Canada, Australia, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Norway with other countries following.
Can I import my existing contacts ?
No - you will need to enter your customers into the App.
Why is The Farriers App better than other business Apps?
It is designed exclusively for Farriers and Barefoot Trimmers.
How will this app make me more productive?
It will save you a lot of time and considerably reduce your paperwork. This will give you time for more appointments or a bit more time off, your choice.
Getting started
How do I get started?
Click on one of the Free Trial buttons and sign up. Verify your email and you are ready to go! Alternatively click on the Apple or Play Store icons if you are on a mobile and search for The Farriers App
Do I need to complete all of the setup?
No but the more you do, the more benefit you will get from our App.
Do I have to sign up with our payment providors Stripe and Go Cardless?
No, but we would strongly recommend you do. There is no cost to do this and it will make getting paid really easy.
Will my customers get appointment reminders?
Yes they will get an email reminder before every appointment and an SMS 24 hour before reminder
Can I import my existing contacts?
No it is a great opportunity to update all of your contacts.
What do I do if my customer doesn’t want to give an email address?
Your customer will not receive any reminders or emailed invoices. Just enter their name j.bloggs@example.com the system will then ignore this.
What if my customer has horses at different locations?
No problem you can select where a horse is located.
Can I have a customer who has a monthly account?
Yes - Invoices will all be sent at the end of the month attached to one email. If customer has signed upto GoCardles UK or Stripe US payment can be automated.
Owners
Can I move a horse from one owner to another?
Yes
Can an owner have horses at different locations?
Yes they could have one at the home address, another at a field down the road and one more at a Yard/Barn.
Barns (US/Canada) Yards (UK and other countries)
What is the difference between a Barn and an Owner?
A Barn only has one location, can have their own horses and other Owners horses at this location.
Appointments
How do I add an appointment?
Tap + on the home screen or tap in the calendar
Can I delete an appointment?
Yes - If a customer cancels or you just need to delete an appointment for any reason. This permanently deletes the appointment so you will not be able to refer back to it.
How do I find when I was last at a customer’s?
Use the search facility, using a horse or customer.
What emails are sent to my customers?
They get an email confirming an appointment and then a reminder just before. You can turn these off for individual customers and adjust when it is sends reminders (72,48 or 24 hours before) in your business settings. Nearly all email content is editable by you.
Do customers get any SMS’s?
Yes a 24 hour appointment reminder, you can turn these off for specific customers.
Can I make a personal appointment i.e. Getting van serviced?
Yes and you can add a note so you know what the appointment is for.
Can I create a tentative appointment?
Yes - The customer will not be notified of this appointment until you change to a Customer appointment.
Invoicing
Can I run a monthly account for a customer?
Yes - and the system will either take payment at the end of the month if they are signed up to Go Cardless or send them a statement.
What will the invoice look like?
You can select from various styles and colours, enter your logo in the setup and it will appear on the invoice.
Can I delete an invoice?
Yes you can Void an invoice and it will not appear in your sales figures.
Can I save an invoice for completing / editing later?
Yes
Can I create an invoice whilst off line?
Yes - This will then queue on your phone and automatically download when you get a decent signal
Subscriptions
How Does The 1 Month Free Trial Work?
Try the App for a month, risk free! All it takes is your email address and some basic information and you’re on your way! We will not ask for any payment details until you want to subscribe.
What Do I Get In My Free Trial?
You get full access to everything for a month. You will experience how the App helps you manage your business.
What Happens After My Trial Ends?
We’ll give you a heads up before your trial is over. At that point, you can upgrade to a paid plan, add your billing info, and continue making your life easy.
Can I Cancel At Anytime?
Yes, you can cancel at any time.
Do you have a contract?
Your subscription is monthly, which you can leave anytime you like, without penalty. There is also a reduced price annual subscription.
What happens to my data if I leave?
It’s your data, download anytime.
What are the subscription options?
Single user includes:
1. One primary user with calendar and full access.
2. Office manager with no separate calendar.
3. Book-keeper access to sales invoices, purchases and expenses
Multi User includes:
1. If you have more than one van, this is for you.
2. Each user has their own calendar.
3. There is an extra charge for each user per month.

Are there any discounts if I am a member of an association?
Yes - your association will let you know about these.

Getting paid
What is the easiest way of getting paid?
Encourage your customer to sign up to GoCardless. When you invoice its just one button and the money will be credited to your account. Customers love it!
What is GoCardless?
GoCardless arrange payment straight from your customers bank accounts. It's even safer than taking a credit card and cheaper at 1%
What does it cost to use GoCardless and Stripe (These rates may change check current rates at www.stripe.com and www.GoCardless.com)
For Direct Debit / ACH / SEPA payments:
UK – GoCardless charge 1% up to a maximum of £2.
US – Stripe charge 0.8% up to a maximum of $5.
Europe - GoCardless charge 1% up to a maximum of £2.
Australia - To be announced.
For Credit and Debit cards we use Stripe:
UK - 1.4% +0.20p no monthly charges.
US - 2.9% +0.20p still to be confirmed.
Europe - 1.4% + 0.20p no monthly charges.

Can I take Credit or Debit cards?
If you have completed this part of the setup, you can us Stripe. Great for new customers and there is no monthly charge.
What are the payment methods?
You can take payment in any way you choose. This is then recorded, making it easy for your bookkeeper.
Purchases
How do I record a purchase?
Take a photo of the receipt and complete the details asked for. You can record the details if you don’t want to photo the receipt or just import a file.
If I am VAT/Tax registered will this be separated out?
Yes - You will be able to run a VAT/Tax report by date.
How do you deal with VAT / Sales Tax?
If you are registered, you will be able to run a VAT / Sales Tax, report for your quarterly, annual returns..
Reports
What reports can I run?
There are lots of reports - Sales, Purchases, Service charges, VAT/Tax (if registered), quarterly accounts, horse names due for shoeing and lots more.
Can my bookkeeper have access to these reports?
Yes - You can setup your bookkeeper at no cost as a user and they will be able to access all of the figures they require (assuming you have inputted them in the first place).
